Discussion papers
The Nationals WA will be publishing a series of discussion papers for review and feedback in preparation for the next State Election. If you have any comments or suggestions please email Brendon Grylls MLA.
Balance of Power
The Nationals aim to gain and then use the balance of power after the next State Election in order to use their numbers in Parliament to leverage a better deal for regional electorates.
Royalties for Regions
The Nationals WA will use the balance of power in State Parliament to ensure the equivalent of 25 per cent of all royalty payments to the State over and above current budgeted expenditure are reinvested in regional projects.
Save our Shops
The Nationals WA vehemently oppose deregulated retail trading hours in metropolitan Western Australia because such a move would:
Remove competition and diversity from our metropolitan shopping environment, and Create a major shopping chain ‘sponge’ effect on small business in regional and rural communities.
Housing Our Workforce
With the Balance of Power in the State parliament, The Nationals WA will use its voting power to ensure that essential workers are offered housing incentives to work in the regions.
Country Age Pension Fuel Card
An estimated 40,000 registered age pensioners residing in country WA will be able to apply for a special $500 debit card to help them to cope with rising fuel costs if The Nationals gain the balance of power at the next State Election.
BushChange Housing Grant
A one-off grant of $25,000 per person or couple available to people who build or buy a house in a regional WA bushchange town (towns of less than 10,000) provided they do not own a home or property anywhere in Australia.
