The 2007 Grylls Regional Art Prize
The 2007 Grylls Regional Art Competition ran from two weeks from Saturday 20 October to Saturday 3 November 2007, commencing on the weekend of the Merredin Agricultural Show.
Mr Brendon Grylls MLA opened the exhibition on Friday 19 October to a full house of art enthusiasts at Country Nostalgia Gallery, Bates Street, Merredin.
The guest artist Ian Hill had the difficult task of selecting three winning works from over 120 entries.
The competition is open-medium and non-acquisitive and open to all artists residing in the Wheatbelt and outlying areas of 15 years of age and over.
Brendon presented the first prize to Rosemary Lambert for her acrylic painting the Dancer and the second prize was last year’s winner Alyssa Arnold for her acrylic painting entitled Beth.
The Art Shed third prize went to Merredin artist Cathy Jolly for her mixed media piece Apples and Lemons.
The People’s choice award went to Jeff Kealey for his painting Harts Range.
